If you feel your child needs help and guidance with KS3 and KS4 English Language and English Literature, please get in touch. I provide engaging lessons with a core focus on developing and enhancing skills in English. With a dash of humour, a caring approach and a wealth of experience, I hope that your child would not only see my passion for English but share it.
After achieving my BA (Hons) at Lancaster and my PGCE at Cambridge, I secured my first teaching job in a school where I stayed for 18 years, embarking on a number of roles as KS3 coordinator, Second in English and Literacy Coordinator. Now, as a Head of English and GCSE English Language examiner, I am able to look at the student holistically, creating curricular that is creative, engaging and functional. With twenty years' experience, I can confidently identify what each student needs to do to build on their existing skills and enhance them, preparing not only for examination but life beyond the classroom. More recently, my specific teaching of SEND and autistic students has further strengthened my practice of making English accessible and engaging, removing barriers to success and enabling students to flourish.
In this changing world, I know how important it is for students to feel confident with their English skills and how vital it is for students to be literate for life. Fortunately, I love my subject and have so many different ways to engage and enthuse students with their English skills. Building confidence is essential!
As a teacher and a tutor, I have always gone the extra mile for my students. Please read through my reviews and if you want more information about remote tutoring, please use the 'Contact me' form.
